The literary consultant will help the author through the publication process while guiding and explaining the purposes or needs for services. Ultimately, the author makes the decision. This literary consultant can help find professional services for the author, make connections, and help promote the author's work. The literary consultant can represent the author as a point of contact. A literary consultant is a person who is NOT an literary agent, lawyer, or literary publicist.
I call myself a literary consultant, because I can do services for authors, such as research agents and publishers, to helping an author publish their work, create a book cover, format and/or edit their work. I have prices but I also work within an author's budget without compromising quality.
I am Amy Shannon. I'm an author, poet, professional book reviewer, document editor, book promoter, and now I'm a literary consultant. This does not make me a publicist, but I am here to help guide authors (especially those new to the process) through the process, creating marketing plans, exploring social media options, creating the author's brand, and helping the author decide what is best for their needs, such as which publisher to use, how to hire professionals, and what to look for. I want to be a person that they can trust, and talk with about anything that may be on their mind. Authors should be able to ask questions, decide what they want to spend (only they know their own budget), and which publishing and promotion direction to go.
I am a person that is unbiased, honest, and even if you don't know it yet, trustworthy. No matter the price, whether the listed price, or pricing on a sliding fee scale, the quality is always the same.
Important to know, that I am NOT an attorney or a literary publicist or agent.
On a personal note, any author who utilizes my services, when their book is "publish ready", the book will get reviewed by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews.
